VOICES OF THE VALLEY
April 15–May 8, 2011
The DVO presents a special series of three recitals, celebrating some of the diverse peoples who have settled in the Delaware Valley, bringing with them their cultures, and especially, their music. Recitals of Spanish, Russian, and German songs and arias will be performed at both the Grace Episcopal Church, at 827 Church Street in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, and the Tusten Theater, at 210 Bridge Street in Narrowsburg, New York. Come and enjoy these recitals, honoring the rich cultural heritage that has enriched the Delaware Valley community.

An Evening of Spanish and Latin American Song
Soprano Emilie Storrs, tenor Mariano Vidal, and pianist Violetta Zabbi, along with special guest, Metropolitan Opera tenor Nico Castel, will perform songs and zarzuela selections from Spain, and Latin and South America.

An Evening of Russian Arias and Songs
Soprano Oxana Lanshchikova, tenor Roman Sladkopevets, bass Gennadiy Vysotskiy, and pianist Violetta Zabbi will perform music of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsokov, and Dunayevsky, along with Russian and Ukrainian folk songs.

An Evening of German Song
Soprano Kathy Geary, tenor Kevin Hanek, and pianist Lucy Arner will perform a program of lieder from the nineteenth- and twentieth-centuries, featuring songs of Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler, and Richard Strauss.
